Good things coming out of the House
We're all in debt to the Gang of 20 for restoring the People's House
I’m very pleased to see the moves the new House is making. Yes, de-funding 87000 IRS maggots will not pass the Senate, and Biden would be sure to veto it anyway. But … getting this issue out there front-and-center is gold. Keeping it out there is better, and every single Demmie voted to keep 87000 IRS agents. Not a good look.
Richard Baris was bearish on the prospects. I was in his camp. But, like him, I’m tickled so far.
Removing Swalwell, who was cavorting with a Chinese spy while on House intel; removing Schiff, who used House Intel as a means to lie and gaslight the American people — all pure gold. Pelosi removed MTG from committees and this is pay back. Praise goes to McCarthy for following through on this promise.
I am pleasantly surprised as I thought the Rules package would have been watered down.
Instead, it passed intact, and includes the 1-vote rule to vacate the Speaker — the enforcement mechanism. It also included a wide berth given to Jim Jordan to pursue this generation’s Church Committee, something you’ve heard me clamor for for quite some time. It’s time to put the inteillgence community under the microscope — and this includes their willing allies in Big Tech.
Rogers, that wig-headed doof that confronted Gaetz after the failed 14th vote, is off the Steering Committe (2nd only to Rules for determing the agenda). That miserable DAN (not Ben, as I’ve often misstated) McPatch Crenshaw has been chastened. Watch him end up on MSNBC.
Really fantastic stuff. I’m actually surprised that McCarthy is keeping his promises and is moving decisively. But, then again, thanks to Gaetz, Boehbert, Chip Roy, and a bunch of others — backed by the fact that they can kick McCarthy out on a floor vote raised by a single House rep — well, McCarthy has little choice. Someone as principle-free as McCarthy must be given no choice.
And this is exactly what the House needed. A wholesale cleanout. It moves the Speakership from a dictorial role to a ceremonial one. This is far more signifcant than the Gingrich revolution in ‘94. In large measure, that was all for show. Gingrich was out before long, and there was no enduring mechanisms to propel that wave further. Not true this time. This is lasting.
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those that stuck to their guns.
I forgot that McCarthy whacked Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee. Very appropriate. She's the one who brushed aside the Islamic terrorist angle re: 9/11 saying that"some people did some things".
