McCarthy deserves what he gets
He has botched every move. He's a loser. We need a strong Speaker, and he ain't it. And that is exactly why the process exists.
Frank Luntz’s roommate (and bromancer?), Kevin McCarthy, has found himself in quite a pickle.
The dumbass.
By de-funding viable Republican House candidates in the midterms, he and his nitwit partner in the RNC, Ronna McHorseface, have managed to make the Republican House majority a squeaker. (McConnell did his part to remain Senate Minority Leader, too. Just ask Blake Masters in AZ; JD Vance won in OH despite McConnell.)
If the House Pubs had a majority of, say, 20 seats, McCarthy wouldn’t have gone through the embarrassments of recent days. But with a majority of only 5 or so, the influence of the Freedom Caucus becomes immense. Matt Gaetz is now Kingkiller.
Great work there, Kevin baby.
Funny thing is, McCarthy knew he had tight margins since the early November vote. And yet he’s failed in 6 rounds (so far) to grab Nancy’s gavel. He is a L-O-S-E-R because he failed to assess and act like a leader.
What does a LEADER do when faced with such challenges? It’s easy — he works the opposition, he gains favor, he makes bargains, he gives/he gets. Pubs are different in this way, as we tend to value individualism. Pelosi, meanwhile, with the same majority margin, kept her team in lockstep. This is a testament as much to Dems’ collectivist leanings as it is of Pelosi’s skills. Herding Pub cats is much more demanding than herding Dem cats, but dumbass McCarthy evidently doesn’t know this.
What did mediocre McCarthy do instead? He offended, he ridiculed, he distanced the opposition. He brazenly upended the deal on Monday (New Years’ day) that would have effectively sealed the deal. In recent days, McCarthy’s fanboys, like the despicable Patch McCain (RINO Crenshaw), referred to Gaetz and others as “terrorists”.
Yeah, that’s a winning strategy.
As a consequence, the LOSER lost more votes in successive rounds. Imagine!!
The principled opposition to McCarthy is straightforward: he does not deserve to be Speaker, and he is in the realm of Boehner and Ryan — two profound Beltway losers. (Ryan was instrumental in thwarting Devin Nune’s investigations into Russiagate. Ryan is now a board member of Fox Corp — hence FoxNews’ awful track record.)
I think of McCarthy as the House Pub version of McConnell. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
So the hens over at Fox News are clucking about how unseemly this all is. Dammit, why won’t they just anoint Kevin and get on with the work of disappointing the base?
The way I see it is this:
We’re witnessing a deliberative process in full public view. No wonder the tyrants at MSNBC view it disparagingly — they like the dark.
It’s a Very Good Thing that McCarthy’s anointment has been stalled. If he manages to gain the gavel, he’ll have had to make serious concessions. This will move him closer to the base. Prudentially, the absence of a Red Wave has benefited us in this way.
McCarthy is a loser, and *anyone* will be a better choice if he withdraws, as I suspect he will. I’d personally like to see Jordan as Speaker but I’d rather he remain in Judiciary. But Jordan v McCarthy? Not even close.
The silliness you hear about the Dems gaining a co-equal footing in the House under some ill-advised power sharing agreement is just that — silliness. Even McCarthy wouldn’t go that far. The Hill article today about such games being played was renounced mere minutes later. The Pub party would instantly cease to exist, which would mean certain Pubbies in particular would lose power and prestige. Thus it is just silliness. It’s media fodder (probably planted by Dems).
Remember who wants McCarthy to win: media, K street, McConnell, swamp rats.
Marjorie Taylor Greene placed a bad bet in her early endorsement of McCarthy. She’s doubling down on going after the “terrorists”. She’s hurting her brand.
Trump gave an early endorsement, which actually made sense for him. Evidently McCarthy begged for Trump to reiterate his nod, which Trump did last night, but it was tepid as could be. Still, Trump would be wise to pull his endorsement. Endorsing McCarthy is right up there with endorsing Oz in PA.
I think McCarthy is toast. I don’t see how he digs himself out of HIS hole. Soon, a speaker will be chosen and this all will be a distant memory. Later, when hearings into FBI malfeasance regarding Hunter’s laptop, Biden’s business deals with our enemies, Fauci’s Wuhan lab connections, etc., are under way, just know that they are serious and effective precisely because McCarthy, by his own doing, lost his opportunity to disappoint us once more.
