You’d be wrong to treat the indictments of creepy James Comey and Big Leticia as individual events. Or the forthcoming indictment of John Bolton. Even Shifty Schiff knows it’s coming. And, soon, McCabe, Brennan, etc.
Comey was indicted for lying to Congress; James for mortgage fraud; Bolton: (presumed), for leaking of classified documents.
This is a classic rollup that’s under way; an overarching “Conspiracy Against Rights” (18 U.S.C. § 241) effort led by Ed Martin, who’s hiding in the shadows and with a mighty assist by Harmeet Dhillon (Civil Rights head of DOJ). These are two heavyweights. Forget Bondi. Forget Blanche. Martin & Dhillon are the real players in DOJ. Gabbard over at DNI and various ouse committees, in addition, are teeing up relevant supporting doco.
Think of Rudy rolling up the Mafia in the 70s/80s. He used RICO as his main tool; “Conspiracy Against Rights” is similar in the Trump orbit context. The theory of the case is simple: Trump, his family, his associates, *and the American people* had their civil rights violated by the seedy cast of characters from Obama on down. It was a conspiratorial in nature and involved the active participation of the well-known miscreants.
Evidence of this approach will become clearer when superseding indictments — likely brought in unfriendly (to them) districts — are forthcoming.
You don’t think Comey’s illegalities end with lying to Congress? Ha! Or that Big Leticia committed mortgage fraud exclusively in Norfolk? No way!
So far, the EDVA (Eastern District of VA, in Alexandria) has brought the indictments. It remains to be seen in Bolton is also indicted there. It’d be great to see if his is served up in the DC district but that’s like getting an indictment against the KKK in 1950s central Mississippi. So, his will likely also be in EDVA.
Then, because the principal person for whom his civil rights were trampled resides in FL, it’s very possible the reasonable, honorable Judge Cannon, who factored so largely in taming Jack Smith in the Mar-a-Lago documents (raid) issue, will oversee the case(s).
Comey is not a young man, and is caught dead-to-rights. He’s facing — merely on his current indictments — years of prison and fines. Leticia is looking at many, many years. Bolton, too.
