Looks like Trump-as-Speaker is trending.
I recall someone suggesting that Trump as Speaker would make a lot of sense. Who was that? Let’s see.
Oh, that’s right!
Of course, I don’t have an original thought in my head so hat tip to Richard Baris and others.
But maybe Baris got it from me?
Whatevs. Gaetz voted for Trump today in the 7th vote — the 7th vote that McCarthy FAILED to achieve a win. With the 7th vote, 20 “insurgents” still held. McCarthy hasn’t budged. It’s over Kevin.
As to “Well, then who?”, Trump solves lots of problems.
It will be great to see the No votes to Trump. Hmmm. I wonder why swamp rats would be opposed to Trump as Speaker?
Because Gaetz knew the same opposition to Kevin McLuntz was present in today’s 7th vote — even after concessions were evidently made last night — he (Gaetz) knew he could throw away his vote and make a point.
Or did he? As I said SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, I think there is sound logic in having Trump as Speaker.
With all that said, I still prefer a Jordan or similar.
But whoever it is, as long as it’s not McCarthy I’m good for it. McCarthy has not moved the needle. He is a L-O-S-E-R. And I am willing to bet that a cascade effect will be forthcoming where once McCarthy concedes reality, a massive shift will occur and a new speaker will be quickly appointed.
In the interim, this is a Very Good Thing to have this airing of grieveances — in public — and never mind the nervous nellies who claim the sky is falling just because we spend a few days hammering out differences. That’s bullshit.
